How the T20 World Cup format works
Since 2024 the men's tournament has had 20 teams in four groups of five. The top two in each group reach the Super 8, which is split into two groups of four. The top two from each Super 8 group play the semi-finals, and the winners meet in the final.
Rain can wash out group games, and a no-result gives each team a point. That makes weather forecasts worth checking before you bet on group qualification.

Why tournament betting is different
In a bilateral series a team can lose a game and recover. At a World Cup one bad evening can end a campaign, so favourites often play more carefully and scores can be lower than in franchise leagues.
Teams also play at unfamiliar grounds. At the 2024 event the pitches in New York and the Caribbean were slow, and many group games were low scoring. Early totals at a new venue are a better guide than a team's usual scores.
